How do I convert an AVIF file to JPG or PNG?

Which format should I choose?
JPG gives the smallest file for photos. PNG keeps transparency and every detail but the file is larger. WebP is small and keeps transparency, but some older programs cannot open it.
Does the picture lose quality?
PNG keeps all the detail of the decoded picture. JPG and WebP are lossy, so there is a small loss that depends on the quality setting you choose.
What happens to transparent areas when I save as JPG?
JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour you choose (white by default).
Why can my browser not open the file?
AVIF is supported by current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. An older browser, or a damaged file, cannot be read, and the tool shows a message instead.
Can this tool create AVIF files?
No. This tool converts AVIF files into other formats. Browsers cannot save AVIF files without extra software, so the tool does not offer it.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The pictures are converted in your browser on your own device and are not sent to our servers.
Is there a watermark?
As a guest or on the free plan, downloads include a small Toolysite.com notice at the bottom of the picture. Paid plans download without it.
Is my data safe?
Yes. This tool runs in your browser, so what you type or open stays on your device and is not uploaded to Toolysite.
What is the file size limit?
This tool runs in your browser and accepts files up to 50 MB each. Server-processed tools allow free users 40 MB per file and 5 jobs/day; Premium allows larger files.
Is anything saved?
Nothing you enter is saved on our servers. Only preferences such as favourites and recently used tools are kept in your browser.
