About Image DPI Changer and Checker
Image DPI Changer and Checker shows the DPI stored in a JPG or PNG file and lets you set a new value such as 72, 150, 300 or 600. Forms, printers and design programs read this number to decide how large the picture should print, so it matters when a website asks for a 300 DPI image.
DPI is only a number saved in the file. Changing it does not add pixels or make the picture sharper; it changes the print size, which the tool shows in inches and centimetres. To get more pixels, enlarge the picture with the Image Upscaler. Everything is done in your browser, so the picture is not uploaded.
How to use Image DPI Changer and Checker
- Choose a JPG or PNG image.
- Read the current DPI and print size shown.
- Type the DPI you need or press a preset such as 300.
- Press Set DPI and download the file.
Help & FAQ
How do I change an image to 300 DPI?
Choose your picture, press the 300 preset (or type 300) and press Set DPI. The new file has 300 DPI stored in it and keeps the same pixel size.
Does changing DPI make the picture sharper or bigger?
No. DPI is only a number that tells a printer or program how large to print the pixels. The pixel size and sharpness stay the same. To get more pixels, use the Image Upscaler.
How can I check the DPI of an image?
Choose the picture. The tool reads the DPI saved in the JPG or PNG file and shows it with the print size in inches and centimetres.
Why does it say the DPI is not set?
Many screenshots, web images and edited pictures have no DPI saved. Programs then assume a default such as 72 or 96. You can set the value you need.
What print size will I get at a given DPI?
Print size is pixels divided by DPI. For example, a picture 3000 pixels wide prints 10 inches wide at 300 DPI and 20 inches wide at 150 DPI.
Is my picture re-saved?
As a guest or on the free plan, the picture is re-saved (JPG at high quality) so the Toolysite.com notice can be added. On paid plans only the DPI value inside the file is changed and the pixels are not touched. WebP, GIF and BMP files are saved as PNG.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The picture is processed in your browser on your own device and is not sent to our servers.
Is there a watermark?
As a guest or on the free plan, downloads include a small Toolysite.com notice at the bottom of the picture. Paid plans download without it.
Is my data safe?
Yes. This tool runs in your browser, so what you type or open stays on your device and is not uploaded to Toolysite.
What is the file size limit?
This tool runs in your browser and accepts files up to 50 MB each. Server-processed tools allow free users 40 MB per file and 5 jobs/day; Premium allows larger files.
Is anything saved?
Nothing you enter is saved on our servers. Only preferences such as favourites and recently used tools are kept in your browser.
